AUDITION OVERVIEW

Acceptance onto a ROM Theatre Arts course is by audition only. We do not believe in offering places unless we have seen your potential and had an opportunity to meet you either in person or online.

To secure your place in our next cohort and become part of our thriving community, your next step is to submit an application. Once we receive it, a member of our team will be in touch to confirm your audition date and requirements.

Please note that ROM Theatre Arts is not a UCAS centre — all applications must be made directly via the link below.

Funding for degree students is available through the Student Loans Company (SLC).

Audition requirements

All applicants are required to attend an audition, demonstrating ability across dance, singing, and acting. Our panel will be looking not only at current ability but also at potential, individuality, and performance quality.

Dance / Movement Workshop

Jazz-based technical class (75–90 minutes) including drills and a taught routine
We want to see your technique, style, and individuality
Please bring jazz shoes and studio trainers

Solo Song

Musical Theatre style, max. 90 seconds
Performed with a pre-recorded accompaniment/backing track you have rehearsed

Monologue

One prepared monologue, any style (max. 90 seconds)

Optional

One prepared solo dance routine in your chosen style (max. 90 seconds)

Applicants demonstrating exceptional performance skill may be considered for entry even if they do not fully meet academic requirements.

After your audition

Decisions: Successful candidates are usually informed as soon as possible, and where we can, we’ll share outcomes on the day. If not, please allow up to 14 days for results.

Self-Tapes: Occasionally, we may request an additional self-tape if we need to see a little more before making a final decision.

Video Auditions: If you are unable to attend in person, you may submit an initial video audition. Please contact our team for guidance before applying this way.
