IN THEIR JOURNEY

Rom Theatre Arts are dedicated to cultivating a nurturing, secure, and organised environment for all our students.

Embarking on your journey into higher education and going to university is a significant life transition, and we understand the importance of providing support every step of the way.

To ensure a seamless transition and to assist throughout your training, students are paired with student ‘buddy’ as the best people to help are the ones who have already done it themselves, acting as a student guide and mentor. Moreover, we have professional services available to address a wide spectrum of social, emotional, and mental health concerns.

Mental Health

At ROM Theatre Arts College, we are deeply committed to the mental well-being of our students. Our staff members have undergone training in mental health first aid awareness, enabling them to connect students with professional counselling services that can be booked directly and confidentially. This proactive approach allows students to seek support before challenges become overwhelming and impact their training.

To further promote mental wellness, we offer regular tutorials in both academic and pastoral settings, along with weekly wellness sessions led by a qualified counsellor. These sessions cover essential themes such as resilience, self-awareness, anxiety, and personal emotional management, equipping students with the tools they need to thrive.

Additionally, we collaborate with Options Wellbeing, a charity dedicated to supporting qualified counsellors and therapists. This partnership allows us to provide comprehensive support for a range of life issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, trauma, and eating difficulties. Through counselling, therapy, coaching, and wellness services, we ensure our students have access to the help they need to navigate their personal challenges effectively.

Physical Health

ROM Theatre Arts College prioritises the holistic well-being of our students by establishing strong associations with local physical health practitioners, including physiotherapists and chiropractors, many of whom are conveniently located within walking distance of our campus. This proximity allows our students to easily access vital support services, ensuring they receive timely care for any physical injuries or concerns that may arise during their training and undertake regular physical maintenance to keep their body fit for training.

To further support our students' physical health, there is also a small on-campus gym that students can access to aid in their fitness and rehabilitation needs. This facility provides a convenient space for students to maintain their physical fitness, engage in strength training, and support their overall wellness.

Additionally, we strongly recommend that students consider private health insurance to cover any potential costs associated with physical injuries or long-term mental health care. Having private health insurance not only provides peace of mind but also ensures that students can access the necessary resources and support without financial burden. Our commitment to fostering a healthy and supportive environment extends beyond the classroom, as we believe that optimal physical and mental health is essential for success in the demanding world of performing arts.
